A World of Firsts

After 5 long weeks of waiting Göran and Catrine finally made it out to meet little Elsa for the very first time (aside from all the Skype dates of course). It was so nice to show Elsa that her grandparents aren't a webcam! During their visit Elsa got to experience many "firsts" such as her first trip to a pumpkin patch where we proceeded to hunt for the "perfect" pumpkin. As I'm sure everyone has a different opinion of perfect, our version meant it was too large for me (Amy) to carry. After a good half hour of searching we did indeed find that perfect pumpkin and it was only $7.00! What a steal! The "firsts" didn't stop there. On Saturday night (the following day) Elsa experienced her first official night away from mom and dad. Farmor and Farfar graciously allowed Carl and I to have a date night where we enjoyed a lovely dinner at The Rex in Old Town Louisville followed by the movie 50/50. On Sunday Elsa experienced yet another "first" when she spent the afternoon at her Great Aunt Kelly and Uncle Steve's house while Farmor, Farfar, Carl, and I went to the theatrical production Hair at the Buell Theater. Come Monday the five of us piled in the car for a trip down to Colorado Springs to see The Garden of the Gods and other attractions. This provided Elsa with her first hotel stay which proved to be rather exciting for her, so exciting that she could hardly sleep. Our room had two beds so Carl took one and Elsa and I took the other. It was like a slumber party for her, she kicked her little feet and looked around for about an hour and half until I finally got the idea to put her in her car seat where she slept for about 8 hours (thank goodness for that!). On Tuesday we thought it'd be fun to check out a 7 billion year old cave which was not only a first for Elsa but also for her mother. It was both fun and educational. Elsa loved it so much that she slept through the whole tour! Who would've thought that Elsa's first visit with her grandparents would provide a whole world of firsts?!
